Easy Science Experiments-  Science concepts should be taught through real experiences and this class offers easy experiments that teach students how to investigate and discover why things happen the way they do.  Lessons cover activities and experiments in the follow science areas Earth, Physical, Chemical, and Life.  Students will discover how science laboratories work as they complete fun packets and participate in amazing experiments.

 

Jr. Gardener Nature Experiments- Along with following the manual of Jr. Master Gardener this class will also offer lessons that focus on the natural habitats near your home and exploring the importance of plants, insects, and birds. Students will use hands on projects that help connect them to taking care of the Earth and themselves.  Projects and topics covered: the water cycle, composting soil, seeds and plant life, tree study, specimen collection, searching for insect, caterpillar observation, bird watching, soil erosion and tending a garden. Projects that will be completed and used will be observation tents, small Native California field garden, worm compost, wooden bird houses, frog home, flower presses, caterpillar observation box, plaster animals track imprints, container garden. Each student will use a nature journal to use for discovery entries and sketches. Throughout the ages, writers have been inspired by nature and with patience and skill students will learn to explore nature.

 

Spies, Knights & Pirates- This class combines lessons from the following classes. Spy World, Knights of the Kings Court, and Pirates Treasure.  Combining these classes offers mini lessons into the most colorful parts of history.

Spy World- What do sleuths, deductions, forensic, and fun have in common?  That easy, it is all part of an exciting and new class “ Spy World” Students will jump into learning the secret world of codes and deciphers, finger printing and mysteries, as they begin to learn about detectives and world spies.  The lessons are filled with hands on learning, including who did it mysteries, dusting for fingerprints and spy equipment to build.  This class demonstrates the latest spy gadgets and how students can use invisible ink and secret storage soda cans and more.  This is a must class for any student with a hint of having an investigative, questioning and maybe even secret spy personality.

 

Knights of the Kings Court- Knights and Damsels are truly enchanting, but this class gets right to the real life lessons.  How do people live in the 1600’s?  What did knights do?  And is a damsel a dragonfly?  Well this class promises to leave your students wanting more history as they learn hands on about tournaments, quests, hunts for dragons, and of course defending the castle against battles.

Pirates and Treasure- Finally, a class that teaches students about the adventuresome pirates of the world, along with all their loot.  Students will learn about early trade, world maps, seven seas, and of course all the pirates that they can handle.  This is a hands on learning, project based class.  Students will create their own money and purse, flag and much more. The adventure starts here.

 

Mountain Men of America- Brave men charting new areas of our young country will help students connect with history in a way that stays.  This class is a favorite for exploring Davy Crocket, Daniel Boone, Lewis and Clark and more while becoming acquainted with Native Indians across America.  We will build huts, teepees, and canoes while the influence of Indian folklore and myths connect students with a life style of the past.   The adventures and fun are combined with projects like a leather possibles bag,  claim stick, and bear claw choker.  Maps and journal entries are sketched in ledgers made to roll up and fit tidy in the possibles bag.

  

Construction Club - This class is awesome and is a favorite for many students.  Students learn skills to properly use hand tools to create useful projects.  The design of the class helps students work as teams.  This concept is instilled in students as the class participates in group co-operative games and activities as well as project building.  Projects use many different materials in order to help students learn how to create a finish project.  Students will learn how to follow verbal and written instructions to complete assignments for measuring, cutting, hammering, gluing, staining, and more.  Each student will complete two projects and learn skills to keep building at home.

 

All about Me Yearbook- This class will teach students how to organize a personal history, including stories about themselves, likes- dislikes, family, and activities.  Students will create a hard cover scrapbook yearbook about themselves, using the book titled “All about me”.  Students will learn the art of creative paper designs and layouts using many different scrapbook methods.  This class is cool for all students.

      

Lego Mini Movies- Your students will be designing a stop animation movie with lego’s while learning the importance of team work.  Each student participates in developing thier class film by completing in class assignments for producer, director, set manager, props designer, and filmer.  Students will learn the basics for developing characters, plots and settings and backdrop designs while building with lego’s.  Simple lessons for constructing with these fun and easy materials will help keep students interested in developing their own mini movies long after this session has ended.  Each student receives a copy of their class film after the editor completes the finishing work.

 

Things with String -knots and stitches- Each student will receive a tote bag filled with string, yarn, floss, twine, cords, etc.  for the purpose of learning how to use them.  This class will offers basic lessons for crochet, knitting, embroidery, cross-stitch, needle point, macramé, and tatting.  These handiwork lessons are a lost art form and our class will help connect students to a creative medium- String.  

 Designer You-  This class is a must for the Designer who would like to learn how to create one of a kind fashion and style.  Students will learn to record their ideas and fashion findings in a binder for designing.  Creative hand stitching and basic machine sewing are taught in the clothing challenge, beading and wire twisting are taught in the Jewelry challenge project, dyes and hand painting are taught during the canvas hip hop cap challenge. Students will be encouraged to express themselves. Previous sewing machine experience is helpful, but not necessary. Students are required to bring a sewing machine and binder. 

3-D Animation Art- This class is designed for older students who enjoy creating colorful and explosive art using multi-medium.  Students will learn the basics for creating 3-D effects in drawings and paintings for characters, backgrounds, and text.  Many different varieties of animation will be shown to insprie and teach students how to create. Each student will design a splash page and a model character.

Monsterology ART- Inspiring movies and myths of creatures, animals, and monsters are shared in this unique sculpting art class.  Special focus is given to making sure that students are given a well thought out approach to monsters that insprie art without gore.   Stuents will learn a variety of techniques and skills for sculpting with mediums that provide special effects for their art work.  Each student will record their inspriation and technique ideas in a folder that will help students organize a well thought out plan for developing their monster.  Lessons in animal muscle structure as well as  texture  and details are taught to help students complete this art task.

Ceramics- Students are introduce to the process of ceramics, by learning to pour molds for projects in green ware, sculpting pieces for glaze projects and treatment choices for fired bisque.  Students will enjoy exploring this medium and creating artful pieces that have useful purposes. This class creates three pieces of ceramic with many freedoms to explore their own creativity.

Oil Painting-  This is a favorite for students because the end results are amazing as each students works set by set to complete an original painting.  Students are taught how to use real art materials is a safe and organize way.  The lessons are given for all levels of experience to follow, they are simple and easy.  With the help of our instructors each student will learn new abilities and gain self confidence while exploring the world of oil painting.  All supplies are included although an art smock is recommended.

Funtastic ART- Young minds explore the early beginning of ART mediums as this class teaches exciting projects that help connect students to materials and techniques that are fun and rewarding. Each lesson offers a new profile into the lives of famous artist.  The techniques for the class activity will help students connect to the artist of the day by experimenting with newly learned skills.  Students will complete a new masterpiece every class and will be excited to practice more at home.  We help inspire students to see the world as an artist, with using everyday observations to create artwork.

 

Cupcake Factory-   These splendid little cakes are wonderful for celebrating, afternoon tea, or special dessert.  Each recipe is from scratch and will be organized for each student in a tidy booklet.  Class will involve mixing and baking along with decorating.  We have plans for the most yummy and surprising cupcakes like toffee-apple tower, cloud cakes, froufrou, Florentine cakes, orange blossom cakes, kaleidocakes, coconut cherry hearts, sweet violet cakes, pineapple hibiscus cake, and chocolate ginger gum cake.  This all is going to be a tasty class.

Kids Cooking- This class helps students learn the basics of kitchen safety and food preparation while connecting to the need for nutrients.   Using the Disney Learning materials in class will offer fun exploring lessons into the five food groups, becoming a food detective, and fueling up.  The recipes that are used in the class are easy to prepare and have little stove top needs.   Each recipe is easy and fun for young learners and will be organized in tidy recipe booklets for at home cooking. Every class offers new jobs and materials for mixing, measuring and tasting. Along with cooking and preparing foods students will play games that help connect nutrition to fuel, to create a healthy new you. 

 

Teens Cook- This class teaches students how to enjoy cooking through hands on class involvement while learning how to follow recipes for FUN FOOD.  We know Teens want to eat food that taste good and is easy to make.  We think we have the perfect combination. Students will learn how to make create a recipe folder to organize their new learning in the following areas: Sensational Party Fare, Pizza, Burgers, and Campfire Food, Rounds Food-Fun, Stick up For Good Food, and Kids Love to Cook.  These areas provide great food to taste and take home while students work together to learn basic safety in the kitchen and proper uses of kitchen tools.  The food pyramid and basic nutrition is covered as a way to help students connect with food as fuel.

                        

Open ART Studio- This class is designed to assist students in learning the art mediums that interest them most.  Our instructor has over 20 years experience with teaching art.  This experience is available to students as they explore mediums of the choosing.  The studio will offer areas for painting with different mediums and materials, clay for sculpting and throw wheel, wood carving, metal and plaster sculpting, drawing with different mediums, pastel, charcoal, colored pencil.  The studio is available for creative learning with an instructor that provides direction and lessons.  Students can join and try everything or just focus on one medium.

 

European Art& History- With our summer spent in Italy and France, Kid Creative has put together lessons and projects that will involve students in the styles and history of European art.  Each lesson provides famous artist profiles and history context, along with art projects in the following areas: Wood panels, ivory carvings, miniatures used in illuminations, and Fresco’s.  Each area covers instructions for completed useful projects that reflect the new learning.  Students will take home, a leather bond book with page illuminations using pigments ground in class, wooden panel screen incorporating  13th and 14th century painting techniques, an Italian fresco using tempera techniques, and an ivory soap and soapstone sculpture.  This class is filled with real life materials for real life learning.

Drama Workshop- This class help students reach inside themselves and learn to express the inner drama.  Lessons cover warm up activities, memorization, improv, body language, rhythms and voices impersonations, script reading, props, costumes to create characters.  Worksheets are used for students to learn the different aspects of creating drama..   Students learn tools during each session to use in performance such as corral readings, plays, poetry recitals. Each class has a challenge stage time where students use their newly learned skills to perform in front of the group.  Whether you are a seasoned actor or just wanting to gain more confidence this workshop is about you, mixed with fun.

Digital Photography- This class requires for students to bring a digital camera to each class.  The lessons cover different techniques for taking great photos.  Students will learn how to use their camera features and practice in class exercises for completing assignments.  Each class provides new photograph challenges for students to set up still lifes with elements that help develop a good subject to photgraph.  All student work is saved on a computer for class review and to provide a copy of each student's work for school records.

Digital Photography Magic- This class is to help students learn how to use their photographs to create Awesome ART. Students use their own cameras to shoot assigned pictures for personal projects.  This class will cover basic photography concepts and techniques for shooting photos of many different subjects and assignments.  Student photos will be used in class projects that teach how to use tinted oil enhancements on black and whites, iron on transfers and embellishments, sculpty photo tiles, and a personal art collage using multi-mediums.  Students complete a portfolio of their work as each piece of art work becomes a new subject to photograph.
